Oh Spiderman, My Spiderman

Mon Mar 23, 2009, 10:26 AM
Oh Spiderman, my Spiderman.
After your third movie, the producers either hide or ran.
Then your comics were ret-conned by Joe Quesada.
An abdominal action, even if we did loose the clone saga.

Now The Ultimate series will be cancelled and go away
While villains like Mr. Negative are here to stay.
I haven’t been this sad since they killed off Gwen Stacey.
Or when Spiderman 1 wasn’t directed by Martin Scorsazy.

Oh Spiderman, my Spiderman.
Marvel, how dare you ride your fan!
You better give the WB cartoon a third season.
Otherwise, you’re guilty of Comic book treason.

A poem

Sat Jan 17, 2009, 9:11 AM
A poem:

Orc Warlock, oh Orc Warlock
Grinding through mobs with oars locked.
Specked in corruption but liked quests.
No deduction of said choices’ tests.
DoT only useful in raids.
PC’s stay away, like he has AIDs.
Voidwalker exclusive, solo constantly.
Level 60 elusive, such a monstrosity.
Player quits, time passes.
Doesn’t care for those blood elf asses.
Burning Crusade goes by uncared.
But then news of Wrath of the Lich King is shared.
Hunger ignited, expansion installed with a thud.
Warlock Death Knighted, now specked in blood.

Astro Boy Movie, Please be good!

I mean seriously, anime's Mickey Mouse needs some respect from the youngins. Here's the trailer:

I know they updated the design from the original, as you can see in the theme song for the original sixties show:

But honestly, he still looks like Astro Boy. Besides, I can see what the developers were thinking when they said, "You know, maybe he shouldn't wear nothing but a speedo and have a machine gun in his butt."

And the punching through the ground with the classic flash light eyes seems to be keeping with the original tone of the character. And his voice actor was in a bunch of kid's fantasy movies like the Golden Compass and The Spiderwhick chronicles, so that might turn out all right.

The character models seem to be keeping in touch with Osamu Tezuka's art style. No surprise there. His cartoony style was practically made for CGI, so I'm happy with that. I thought that when they remade Astro boy in 2003 as an anime, it was poorer for the fact that they kept with Tezuka's drawing style but colored it with the bright neon colors typical of modern anime.

The studio that's making it is the same people that made the TMNT movie, which I had mixed feelings about. On one hand, it got the character's of the turtles perfectly and had one of my favorite moments ever in Ninja Turtle History (Raphael kicked Leonardo's ass? Cowabunga!) On the other hand, the plot itself was bland and uninteresting and just served as an excuse to get the turtles back on screen again with the success of the television show remake. Overall though, I enjoyed seeing it. I was entertained, I wasn't predicting every plot point, and it had some good moments.

But I'd like them to do a little better than that for Astro Boy. I have a special fandom of Osamu Tezuka and his work as a cartoonist and I don't want to see his signature character being used as nothing but a cash in.

I was sick. I got better.

Thu Nov 20, 2008, 12:16 PM
I'd just like to say that I've been very....VERY sick. I was the sickest I had ever been in my entire life and I pray to God I never get that sick again. I was hospitalized for a very painful week and I was still in pain when I left.

But I've gotten better, and I feel fantastic right now. I feel joyous, stupendous, and every other word for pleased in that exists in the English language. I've turned a corner medically speaking and for the first time in what feels like forever I'm feeling like my old self again.

I'm writing this journal not to seek pity or complain for the time when I was sick but to celebrate the fact that I'm in good health and spirits again. Words can't describe how good it feels to return to the life I had before I knew the meaning of the phrase "Ulcerative Colitis." So many family and friends supported me through my difficult time and it warms my heart to know just how many people care.

I didn't mention any of this online because I didn't want to complain or seek pity, but I think it would be appropriate for me to celebrate my return to good health so that everyone in the world can hear me. Or at least, I feel so good that's what I'd like to do.

World, I feel GREAT! And I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart.
